Community Hub Group Update – May 2024

The weather has delayed the completion of the survey, so we are unable to provide a full report at this meeting.

We are hoping the drone will go up tomorrow (Friday 10th May 2024).  However, we intend to provide all councillors with a full set of information in advance of the Parish Council meeting on June 3rd, for discussion.  It will include the executive summary of the survey report plus a link to the full report.

The Project Group will also provide their response to the full report detailing key points and making recommendations for you to consider regarding the future of the project.

If the decision is made to go ahead, the Project Group will also provide a ‘next steps document’.  This will include the cessation of the existing Project Group, the formation of the Hub Management Group and community involvement etc.

Meanwhile, the bid to the Architectural Heritage Fund will be submitted by 15th May, and the Project Group is seeking a grant of £10,000 for further viability work.

We are preparing a bid to the National Lotteries Community Fund and investigating the Community Ownership Fund.

Parish Maintenance contract – March 2024

South Petherton Parish Council is tendering for a new Parish Maintenance contract – to provide a wide range of maintenance to all areas that are the responsibility of the Parish Council, helping to keep South Petherton as the beautiful village that it is.

This will be a 3 year contract, and is for 21 hours per week.

The full details are attached in the document below, with tenders to be submitted by midday, Friday 5th April to the Parish Office.

Notice is hereby given in accordance with Section 87 of the Local Government Act 1972 that a vacancy has occurred on the South Petherton Parish Council.

Unless a request for an election to be held is submitted in writing to the Chief Executive of Somerset Council at Electoral Services, The Council Offices, Brympton Way, Yeovil, Somerset, BA20 2HT by Wednesday 14th February 2024 by ten electors for the Parish of South Petherton, the Parish Council will proceed to fill the vacancy by co-option.

Bookings Manager needed

Bookings Manager needed

South Petherton Methodist Church and Church Rooms are fantastic spaces for hire to community groups. They are well used popular spaces for many groups in South Petherton.

The current bookings manager is ceasing responsibility for bookings after 30th November 2023.

The role includes being the contact for anyone who wishes to book the spaces, maintaining the diary, raising invoices and arranging the supply of keys.

This is a voluntary position suitable to someone in the community who is interested in playing a crucial role for many community groups. It is enjoyable and does not take up much time.
