Accessibility Statement

Website Accessibility Statement

South Petherton Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
This accessibility statement applies to https://southpethertonparishcouncil.gov.uk/

Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and issues listed below. Most requirements of the technical specification are met, but with some exceptions. This means it is not yet fully compliant and that the necessary measures are to be taken in order to reach full compliance.

Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reason(s):
• some older documents (such as PDFs and Word files) may not be fully usable with screen readers
• some interactive elements or forms may not work perfectly with all assistive technologies
• some content may not yet meet every success criteria of WCAG 2.2 AA

(a) non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
● missing alternative text;
● colour contrast issues;
● keyboard navigation problems;
● inaccessible forms;
● heading structure;
● PDF tagging problems;
● tables.
(b) disproportionate burden
The existing PDF documents for historic meeting agendas and minutes do not fully comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard. We are working to correct this but due to the number of documents involved this has created a disproportionate burden and so an exemption, within the meaning of the accessibility regulations is being temporarily invoked.

Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 18 March 2026.
The Parish Council used a self-assessment web accessibility evaluation tool to check the website accessibility.
The statement was last reviewed on 17 June 2026.
