In 2019 South Petherton Parish Council led a £44,500 project to install a double cricket net facility into the Recreation Ground.
The project was made possible by developer funding from recent new housing developments in South Petherton and contributions from South Petherton Cricket Club and South Petherton Parish Council.
South Somerset District Council worked closely with South Petherton Parish Council, and in conjunction with South Petherton Cricket Club to deliver this facility.
In 2024 South Petherton Parish Council accessed the same developer fund mentioned above with contributions from South Petherton Cricket Club and South Petherton Parish Council to fund equipment to further enhance the cricket facilities. A bowling machine, combi brush and cricket pitch covers were purchased and installed in July.
